Celtic secured title number 55 on Saturday to move level with Rangers on Premiership titles.
That’s 14 titles in 15 seasons for Celtic, all of which have been a joy to watch for those in green and white colours, and a nightmare for the opposition, including Kris Boyd.
After hanging up his boots in 2019, Boyd has become a pundit for Sky Sports and has only witnessed Rangers win one Premiership title.
For the man himself, all of this must be a difficult match because, not only are Celtic heading for another Treble, but there is no sign of this stopping.
There is that, from Boyd’s perspective, infamous video surfacing on social media of him telling Chris Sutton last season that Rangers have won more titles than Celtic.
Well, not anymore, and this is what Boyd himself had to say about Celtic’s title win, and surprisingly, he made some very good points.

Celtic thrashed Dundee United to all but secure the title, and they travel to Ibrox next, where the celebrations will, no doubt, be in full flow.
Boyd offered his ‘congratulations’ to the champions, including how he felt it was ‘virtually impossible’ for the Hoops to catch Rangers’ trophy count when he was playing.
But rather than talking about those who mention Celtic’s trophy wins during Rangers’ time down the divisions, Boyd wanted to point out that the Hoops have ‘won more’ since his former side have come back up, as he told Sky Sports News (28/04/25 at 12:40 pm).
“First of all, congratulations to Celtic,” said Boyd. “Once again, they have been the outstanding team in Scotland. That consistency that Brendan Rodgers seems to find from his team is unmatched.
“From a Rangers point of view, there is obviously going to be a takeover happening any time soon, but the harsh reality is that Rangers are falling further and further behind Celtic.
“When you go back a few years go, in terms of that trophy count, it was virtually impossible to think that, if you go back to my time at the football club, that Celtic were going to get anywhere near it.
“People will say, ‘since Rangers have gone down the leagues’… Celtic have actually won more trophies since Rangers have come back to the top-flight than they did when they were away.
How many trophies have Celtic and Rangers won?
Back in December, Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final, in an enthralling Hampden showdown that was won on penalties.
That was a significant match because it meant that, in terms of trophies won in their history, Celtic went past their old rivals.
If you include the recent Premiership title, they are now two ahead, and could well be three up by the time the season is out, with the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen around the corner.
