Celtic will be looking to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season as another Champions League campaign beckons.
Brendan Rodgers has already admitted that he wants to add more quality to the Celtic first-team squad to take the club further in UEFA’s elite competition.
With a number of positions needing to be strengthened, Celtic fans will be expecting the Parkhead board to splash the cash but the latest transfer rumour involving the club doesn’t exactly scream Champions League.
But pundit, Stephen McGinn has a theory on that.

According to The Herald, Celtic are looking to bring Ross Doohan back to Paradise when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Aberdeen backup goalkeeper has made 18 appearances this season for Jimmy Thelin’s side as first-choice Dimitar Mitov recovers from injury.
But now, it appears he could be set for a return to Celtic Park at the end of the season and Stephen McGinn thinks he knows why.
McGinn told The Go Radio Football Show [28m], “Well, with Celtic, Ross Doohan is linked with Celtic, Lyle Cameron is already signed with the Rangers.
“I don’t mean this in any sort of disrespectful way, but you feel as if the clubs are looking at them because of the European stuff in terms of needing a certain amount of homegrown players.
So they’re having to, if people are moving on or likely wanting to move on for games, they’re having to have a certain amount of Scottish players.

Firstly, before he left Glasgow, Doohan had various spells on loan while at Celtic which helped him gain over 100 first-team appearances at the likes of Ayr United, Morton and Tranmere Rovers.
The former Scotland U21 goalkeeper eventually joined Tranmere from Celtic in a permanent deal after a chat with Ange Postecoglou convinced him it was time to move on.
The 27-year-old then moved on to Forest Green Rovers and then joined Aberdeen in 2023 under Barry Robson.
Now nearing the end of his current contract, Doohan could be set to make a stunning return to Celtic in a remarkable career turnaround that could see him learn his trade now under Brendan Rodgers.
