Lubo Moravcik knows more than most about what it takes to make it at Celtic. So those connected with the club are likely to take note of his ringing endorsement of Hoops target David Strelec.
The Slovakian striker has been on the Hoops’ radar and they saw a £7million offer knocked back by Slovan Bratislava, who they had beaten on Champions League duty months prior, knocked back.
Strelec recently broke his silence on his failed Celtic move and spoke on how his future may look now, refusing to rule out staying at his current club.
The 24-year-old has 24 goals for Slovan this season and has just fired them to the Slovakian title – admitting “everything is open” with regards to his future.
With Celtic tipped to “spend big” on a striker, it remains to be seen whether Strelec will be back on their list of options.
But club hero Moravcik, a fellow Slovakian, insists he would be guaranteed to hit 20 in a season if he did make the move.
“There are many stories about David and clubs are looking at him,” he told the Sunday Post.
“He has scored 18 goals this season and he was out injured for two or three months. Right now, I have no idea where he will end up but, if he does go to Celtic, I think it would be a good move for the club and the player.
“David has the capabilities to score goals for Celtic. He knows his way to goal, for sure. He’d score a minimum 20 goals for Celtic in a season. He’s a quality striker and has a presence.
“He shows that every week in Slovakia. He also shows it for his country and he played very well against England in the Euros last summer.
