Nottingham Forest striker wanted by Bundesliga club as Sean Dyche faces transfer decision

The £26 million summer signing has only started one match for Nottingham Forest all season

Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart have joined the race to sign Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The 23-year-old only joined Forest in August, moving from French outfit Rennes in a £26 milllion move, but he is yet to make a Premier League start for his new club and has played only a minute in the top flight since Sean Dyche took charge.

As per Sport Witness, Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport had previously reported that AS Roma had ‘initiated talks’ over a possible move for the Frenchman, while a club from France – suggested to possibly be Paris FC – is also believed to have made an approach to Forest, according to Jeunes Footeux.

Now, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Stuttgart are still on the hunt for a new striker and says that they have added Kalimuendo to their list.

Posting to social media playform X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: “VfB Stuttgart are still looking for a striker in the winter and have now added Arnaud Kalimuendo to their shortlist. There is contact between VfB and his agents.

“Forest are open to discussions for interesting offers but still believe in him. Contract until 2030. Niclas Füllkrug is currently not an option for VfB.”

Kalimuendo enjoyed three season with Rennes, scoring 40 goals in 112 appearances across all competitions, but he is yet to find the net for Forest in his limited game time.

New boss Dyche must now decide whether to keep faith with the summer signing or cut his losses after only half a season, as the Reds try to pull themselves out of the relegation zone after a disastrous start to the Premier League season.
