RANGERS SET FOR SENSATIONAL SWAP DEAL FOR PREMIER LEAGUE STRIKER AS DANNY ROHL PREPARES FOR JANUARY REVAMP

Rangers are reportedly lining up a sensational player-plus-cash deal to bring a Premier League striker to Ibrox, a move that is expected to be the centrepiece of Danny Röhl’s aggressive January revamp. The target is believed to be Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jørgen Strand Larsen, with the Light Blues prepared to offer their own major summer signing, Yousef Chermiti, plus a significant cash sum.
The reported proposition is a bold one, reflecting the new manager’s urgency to inject more reliable firepower into the squad. Despite the significant £8 million outlay for Chermiti last summer, the young striker has struggled to settle, with the pressure and weight of expectation proving too much. This has prompted Röhl and Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell to consider cutting their losses and repurposing the investment.
The Strand Larsen Attraction
Strand Larsen, the imposing Norwegian international, fits the profile of the robust, proven goalscorer Röhl is desperately seeking. The 6’4” striker had an excellent debut season at Wolves, scoring 14 Premier League goals, and has the physicality and clinical edge currently missing at Ibrox.
However, any deal would be hugely complex. Strand Larsen is a key player for Wolves, having only joined them permanently in the summer of 2025 following a successful loan. Convincing the Premier League side to part with their number nine, even in exchange for a young talent like Chermiti and a cash adjustment, would require a substantial financial package that tests Rangers’ budget.
While there are reports Chermiti may be offered a loan move back to Portugal to aid his development, the swap-deal rumour suggests a much more aggressive and immediate strategy from the Rangers hierarchy. This move highlights Röhl’s mandate to actively reshape the squad in the winter window, prioritising proven quality over developing potential in the quest to overhaul their domestic rivals.
