Fabrizio Romano has shared another update regarding Mohammed Kudus and his West Ham United contract.
Kudus is said to have a release clause written into the agreement signed last year that will allow him to leave for £85million in 2025.
Romano says there has been no concrete interest in the Ghana international at this stage, but his release clause situation will soon become clear.
“There are stories that Kudus has a release clause in his West Ham contract but the club are not confirming it,” Romano said in his Daily Briefing column [11 May].
“Some sources state that a release clause is there. So we will know officially in the next weeks. So far it’s quiet in terms of contacts.
”Mohammed Kudus contract length at West Ham United The 23-year-old is under contract at London Stadium until 2028, with that including the option of a further year – so effectively 2029.
United will therefore feel no pressure to sell Kudus if clubs come calling in the same way they did with Declan Rice last summer, for example.
However, that £85m figure is nothing in today’s market, and you can be certain a team like Liverpool would be happy to trigger that.
That will not be possible for another 13 months or so, though, and therefore Kudus’ future should not even be a talking point right now.
While he has gone off the boil slightly – who hasn’t at West Ham? – Kudus is a key part of United’s plans going forward.
Indeed, for all the talk of possible incoming arrivals, the key this summer is retaining Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and hopefully Lucas Paqueta.
