Scotland Player’s Response to Length of 2026 World Cup Draw Is Going Viral

The Scotland star reacted to the World Cup Draw as he waited to learn their group stage opponents.

One of Scotland’s star players had a hilarious reaction to the length of 2026 World Cup Draw.

The World Cup will return next summer, with the United States of America, Mexico and Canada set to host the expanded 48-team tournament.

Ahead of the competition, the draw for will take place in the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, hosted by former Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand.

Despite the excitement going into the draw, many fans began to grow fed up as musical performances, interviews and a controversial award presented to US President Donald Trump delayed the actual draw.

And this feeling was summed up perfectly by one Scotland star with a hilarious social media post that has gone viral.

In November, Scotland became the second home nation to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup following their spectacular 4-2 win over Denmark in Glasgow’s Hampden Park.

It marks the first time that Scotland’s men will play at the World Cup for since 1998.

But as they waited to find out exactly who they would be facing in the group stages, Aston Villa captain John McGinn reacted to the pre-draw show with a gif showing a skeleton wearing a set of headphones.

Of course, this was McGinn’s not so subtle way of joking about how long it was taking for the actual draw to take place, with it eventually happening well over an hour after the show began.

Eventually, Scotland were drawn into Group C, meaning they will play Haiti in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup on June 13, potentially in New York City.

They will then face tough games against Brazil and Morocco in their next group stage matches, providing them with a difficult path to their first-ever World Cup knockout stage in their ninth attempt.

Meanwhile England were drawn in Group L, meaning their first match will be on Sunday 17 June in either Dallas or Toronto.

Alongside England in the group is Croatia, who will be England’s first opponents at the World Cup, Ghana and Panama who the Three Lions will play in their third and final group stage match
