Pedro Porro has shockingly been left out of Spain’s squad for the European Championship.

Porro initially struggled to come to grips with the Premier League after his move to the club 18 months ago but the right-back has gone from strength to strength this season.

The Spaniard has silenced his critics, showcasing his defensive quality while continuing to deliver impressive output in the final third, with 10 goal contributions (three goals and seven assists) in the league this season.

The 24-year-old has also adapted brilliantly to the inverted role in Ange Postecoglou’s system, clearly possessing the technical quality and awareness to receive the ball in central attacking areas while also having the engine to get up and down the pitch.

Pedro Porro not selected for Spain Euros squad Some Spurs fans might even feel that Porro was unlucky to miss out on the club’s Player of the Year award, given his consistency.

However, Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has astoundingly decided not to name the Tottenham man in his 29-man preliminary squad for Euro 2024.

The news will undoubtedly come as major heartbreak for Porro, who could not have done much more to be on the plane to Germany.

Spurs Web Opinion De la Fuente has chosen to go with the experience of Jesus Navas and Dani Carvajal for a big tournament but there is no doubt that Porro is a better player than both of them at the moment, given the respective stage of their careers.
