Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks has revealed that he is keen for Jamie Vardy to stay at the King Power Stadium, speaking to Leicesters hire Live.
The striker’s deal expires this summer and with the player yet to put pen to paper on an extension, the former England international’s future in the Midlands remains unclear at this point.
He was a key player during the 2023/24 campaign though, managing to shine more than Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka and Tom Cannon under Enzo Maresca despite the fact he’s entering the latter stages of his career now.
It could even be argued that he should have scored more goals than he did, having a couple of golden opportunities away at Bristol City and also missing a penalty against West Bromwich Albion during the latter stages of the season.
However, the important thing for the Foxes was getting back to the Premier League at the first time of asking and Vardy played a big part in helping Leicester to achieve this aim.
There have been reports that the player has agreed a new one-year deal at the King Power Stadium, but there is yet to be clarity on this and it remains to be seen whether Vardy is keen to stay put or whether he wants to bow out on a high note after promotion.

At 37, he probably doesn’t have much room for improvement now, but Winks is keen to see the striker stay put.
He said: “He just sums up this club and epitomises Leicester.
Him and Marc Albrighton, they’re two players who put Leicester where they are.
Of course (I want Vardy to stay), he’s a massive player and he’s an important player in this team.
“This season he’s been massive and helped us get back to the Premier League and the more players from this team that can stay, the better for the club.
“Jamie Vardy should stay at Leicester City for another seasonVardy may be 37 now, but that’s no issue if he can continue performing well.
There will come a point where he won’t be able to start regularly anymore and a new striker will need to come in during the summer window.
However, having Vardy as a squad option for another year would be ideal, especially with the Foxes unable to spend too much this summer if they want to give themselves the best chance of remaining within financial limits in the future.
The striker is also a great personality to have in the dressing room and could be an extremely valuable player when times get tough.
Things could be difficult for the Foxes next term, especially if they start the season with a points deduction, so retaining Vardy is a must for both on-field and off-field matters.
