Rangers transfer chiefs and Danny Rohl appear to be singing from the same hymn sheet ahead of the January transfer window opening.

A number of names have been touted as targets, with Josh Windass the latest linked with a move to Rangers next month.

Stig Inge Bjornebye was recently appointed by Rangers as interim sporting director to oversee transfer matters.

And speaking last week, Rohl admitted he is eager for Rangers to conduct business early in the window, although he accepts that is not always possible.

Rangers prioritising deal for certain type of central midfielderWith the transfer window opening next week, it is likely that a shortlist containing numerous names has already been drawn up.

In an update shared by Joshua Barrie for Rangers Review, it is said that the Gers are prioritising a No.6 to effectively help build the team around.

There is an internal feeling at Ibrox that is also shared by Rohl, Barrie reports, that the Gers are in need of a focal point in the middle of he park.Rangers already have a number of central midfielders on their books, but there is a desire to recruit somebody who can help set the tempo of games.

The winter transfer window for Scottish clubs opens 1 January and closes on 2 February, giving teams a whole month to alter their squads.

Does Rangers transfer update mean Nico Raskin could be off?

Rangers recruited Joe Rothwell in the summer in the hope of bringing in a player who could do a bit of everything.

However, Rothwell is heading for the Ibrox exit already having failed to get going at all as a Rangers player.Nicolas Raskin is Rangers’ best midfielder right now and has been at the centre of plenty of exit talk himself in recent months.

But the Belgium international’s contract still has plenty of time to run, meaning Rangers are under no immediate pressure to sell.

Instead, the Gers are clearly looking for a midfield partner to complement Raskin in the middle of the park, rather than to replace him.

A prolific goalscorer would also be nice, but as long as Rangers have a clear plan in place, that is all that matters.
