What Rohl said of Rangers’ title hopes after Motherwell win

Danny Rohl believes Rangers remain in the race for the William Hill Premiership title.

It comes after his side defeated Motherwell by a goal to nil at Ibrox this afternoon.

Thelo Aasgaard’s second-half strike proved crucial as Rohl’s side cut the gap on league leaders Heart of Midlothian, who lost 3-2 to Hibernian earlier today, to nine points. Rangers also have a game in hand.

“I’m very happy for the group,” said Rohl post-match. “Except for the first 15 minutes we were good in the game, especially at the end we had so many chances we had to close the game.

“After the Hearts game you can criticise him [Jack Butland] but today he showed why I trust him so much. It was an outstanding performance, it’s important for a clean sheet.

“It’s about the next game and the next three points.

“It’s a long, long way, a long journey and a lot of games to go. It’s about the next challenge we have.

“We are still in the race but a lot of games to go. I think after the Hearts defeat the question was different, today we have this question. I understand but it’s about the next game and the next three points.”

Rangers return to action on Tuesday evening as they welcome St Mirren to Ibrox.
