Bryan King claims Newcastle United will need to pay £50million to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The ex-Goodison scout believes the 27-year-old could fit in well at St James’ Park.
As reported by The Telegraph (22 June), the Magpies are pushing to sign Calvert-Lewin with a fee still being negotiated between the two clubs.
There is confidence a deal can be struck, but King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – doesn’t think it will be cheap.
“He would be a good signing for Newcastle,” King said.
“There have been question marks over him since he arrived at Goodison Park. However, he has proven that he can score goals in a relatively poor team.
He won’t be cheap, centre-forwards never are. I think he will cost around £50million in total once everything is included.”

Plenty of players have been linked with exits from Goodison Park this summer, such is the nature of the Toffees’ financial struggles.
As reported in the print edition of Mundo Deportivo (page three, 23 June), Manchester United have tabled an offer of £50.7million to sign Amadou Onana.
United also have a long-standing interest in Jarrad Branthwaite.
Supporters will be hopeful that not all three players need to be sold, and of the three, Calvert-Lewin would perhaps be the preferred choice to go.
He hasn’t always been the most popular figure at Goodison Park, and he is also much older than Branthwaite and Onana.
If the Toffees can secure a good fee for him, this could be viewed as a positive bit of business.
