‘Here We Go!’ – Romano Confirms Wolves Land Stunning Signing of Premier League’s Rarest Talent
Wolves have struck a major breakthrough in the transfer market, securing a deal to sign highly rated Spanish midfielder Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reports that the Molineux club have agreed a package worth £21.3 million, including add-ons, for the 21-year-old, who has been dubbed a “unicorn” for his rare and dynamic attacking skillset. Personal terms have already been finalised, and the youngster was scheduled to undergo a medical on Wednesday.
Despite a €40 million release clause in his Celta contract, Wolves have successfully negotiated a significantly lower fee, capitalising on their strong connections—particularly through super-agent Jorge Mendes—to bring Lopez to the Premier League.
Following the departures of key players Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha, new manager Vitor Pereira is looking to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign. Lopez is seen as a direct successor to Cunha, who recently completed a move to Manchester United.
Lopez had a breakout campaign in La Liga during the 2024/25 season, featuring in 17 matches—starting seven—and scoring twice. His flair and versatility have attracted attention across Europe, but Wolves have acted swiftly to wrap up the deal.
Meanwhile, Wolves are not done yet. The club is also eyeing further reinforcements, with OGC Nice forward Evann Guessand reportedly on their radar. A £25 million bid has already been submitted for the Ivorian striker as the West Midlands outfit looks to add firepower to its ranks.
