Good decision by the club? When it comes to youth development, not every club can get it spot on. But the key for youngsters is to get them playing football as much as they can out on loan.

Going to sit on the bench in another league does no benefits for the young striker. As for how this loan spell with affect his growth as a player; he has been thrown in the deep end – Rotherham are one of the worst teams in League One this season. They also do not have a prolific striker nor a good attack so Gray might get some playing time there.

The club should hope this deal does not end up like Charlie Crew’s short spell at Doncaster Rovers. Their manager revealed that the competition was a step too high for the youngster that season.
