‘Rangers stockpile new signings for Danny Rohl’ with pre-contract agreeements to follow at Ibrox

Rangers have leapt into action in the winter transfer window this week, with three signings confirmed already.

Tochi Chukwuani arrived first for £4million from Sturm Graz, with Tuur Rommens confirmed days later as a new left-back for Danny Rohl.

Ahead of Rangers’ 5-0 win over Annan on Friday, Andreas Skov Olsen was announced as the marquee new arrival of January from Wolfsburg.

Skov Olsen initally joins on loan, but can make that permanent in the summer for a huge £9m.

Even with that, Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers may not be done there.

Hugh Keevins insists that the title could be destined for Rangers or Hearts, with Celtic lagging behind already in the winter window.

Writing in the Sunday Mail, the respected journalist believes that more is yet to come at Ibrox before and after the 2 February transfer deadline.

“The Premiership title will eventually go to Tynecastle or Ibrox – and Celtic will finish in third place,” Keevins wrote. “At best.“

The shift in the Old Firm’s balance of power goes on in plain sight and can now be measured in hard cash.

“A total of £7.5million was paid by Rangers last week to bring Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani into the club. Andreas Skov Olsen follows on a loan deal, which may become a permanent move in the fullness of time.

“Hearts and Rangers are stockpiling new signings and have pre-contract deals on the go for others who will arrive next summer.”

While Rohl was able to rest half of his squad for Rangers to cruise past Annan in the Scottish Cup, McInnes was not so lucky.

Hearts crashed out of the cup on penalties against Falkirk at Tynecastle on Sunday, but that wasn’t the worst of it.

Lawrence Shankland was forced off injured, and it doesn’t look good for the Scotland star ahead of Hearts taking on Celtic next, which Rangers can take advantage of.

Rangers welcome Dundee to Ibrox next in the Scottish Premiership, with a real chance to start putting their foot down and pushing towards the most unlikely of title wins.

With Ludogorets and Porto either side of that in the Europa League, though, it will be interesting to see if Rohl rests some players for what is really important now.

Derek Cornelius is one of many set to return from injury, too, with the Rangers squad looking at its best heading into the most important part of the season yet.
