Celtic’s start to the new season has been excellent as Brendan Rodgers’ side has shown a relentlessness that has blown the opposition away.
In five fixtures in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic remain unbeaten with 14 goals scored and none conceded.
And whilst the team, Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic support will be confident of defending their title, no admissions or assumptions will be made at this early stage by anyone connected to the club.
Even after the 4-0 opening-day win over Kilmarnock, no one at Celtic was getting carried away which made Hearts’ Yan Dhanda’s comments after the first game of the season really strange.
Dhanda’s title comments look foolish now
After drawing with Rangers in the opening game of the season, Dhanda made a bizarre prediction that Hearts could challenge Celtic for the title.
The Tynecastle man said, “Yes, definitely. I think we can go past the top two. We have shown how good we can be, so what’s stopping us?
“As long as we keep believing in the talent we have in the changing room and the togetherness along with the staff and the group of players, we can do anything this season.
“I think the most important thing is just keep believing and we showed that on Saturday.
Now sitting bottom of the Scottish Premiership table with just one point from 18 this season, Hearts parted company with manager, Steven Naismith, after another defeat at St Mirren at the weekend.
Celtic will be tough to stop this season
It’s already looking like Celtic will be very difficult to stop in the league this season. Looking solid in defence and ruthless in attack, the defence of their Scottish Premiership title has gotten off to the best of starts.
Celtic have already seen off the likes of Hibs, Hearts and Rangers who all gave them tough games last season with ease.
And with struggling St Johnstone and Ross County next, the Celtic support will be confident that Brendan Rodgers can take six points from both games to keep their lead intact at the top of the table.
Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen come visiting on the 19th of October where a packed Celtic Park will get to witness what will be the game of the season so far.
If Celtic can win that then the gap at the top of the table will extend even further making it very tough for Aberdeen and Rangers to keep up with the current Scottish champions.
