Celtic signed Kasper Schmeichel on a free transfer in the summer window. The goalkeeper has been one of the standout players for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season.
The Denmark international has kept 11 clean sheets and conceded 15 goals from 18 games in all competitions this season. This includes nine clean sheets, and three goals conceded from 11 league matches.
Schmeichel is currently with the national team camp for this month’s international break.
This gave Tipsbladet an opportunity to have a chat with the Celtic player. When discussing his current form for the club, the 38-year-old stated he loves to be part of the Scottish champions’ squad.
I’m very satisfied. I’ve played really well, and I love being part of the team. It’s a great style of play that we have, and it suits me really well,” he said.
The former Leicester City star is delighted with his side’s good start to this season. Celtic are currently leading the table, level on points with second placed Aberdeen.
“We’ve had a good start, but it’s not about how you start. I can’t complain. We play really good football. The past week has been characteristic for our team,” Schmeichel explained.
“In pre-season we beat City and Chelsea, and then we took it further and beat Leipzig in the Champions League. We are in a good place, and we can play many different types of matches.”
In the summer, Brendan Rodgers’ side offered the Dane a one-year deal, with an option for another year. The stopper mentions about this option and hints Celtic could activate it in the second half of this season.
“One thing at a time. It’s an option for another year, but we will take that at some point next year,” he added.
