Leeds United have dramatically entered the race to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach’s highly-rated full-back Lukas Ullrich, intensifying a transfer standoff with Tottenham and Brighton, as reported by Bild. The 21-year-old Germany U21 international had a breakout season with 27 appearances, shining in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Bundesliga side.

Gladbach are eager to tie Ullrich down with a contract extension reportedly worth €2.5 million annually. However, the club’s financial instability could hinder their efforts, as sporting director Roland Virkus faces internal resistance chiefly from finance chief Stefan Stegemann, who is wary of the club’s precarious economic situation. That uncertainty has left Ullrich’s future wide open, with Premier League clubs circling.

The interest from England is not limited to Ullrich. Leeds boss Daniel Farke, who previously managed Gladbach during the 2022/23 season, is also eyeing potential moves for Nico Elvedi and Julian Weigl two more players he coached in Germany. With financial muscle and Premier League exposure on their side, Leeds, Tottenham, and Brighton could force Gladbach into a reluctant sale, setting the stage for an intense summer tug-of-war.
