Brighton Women Sign Champions League Star Chiamaka Nnadozie to Fix Leaky Defence in Major Summer Move


Brighton & Hove Albion Women have secured a major coup by signing highly-rated goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie from Paris FC. The 24-year-old shot-stopper will officially join the club on July 1st after her contract with the French side expires.

Nnadozie arrives with a wealth of top-level experience, having racked up over 100 appearances for Paris FC and competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Her standout performance came in the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final, where she made two crucial penalty saves to help Paris FC defeat giants PSG. That display earned her widespread acclaim, and she was later crowned the French league’s Goalkeeper of the Year for 2024.

Brighton manager Dario Vidosic is confident the new arrival will bring much-needed stability between the posts. “We’re delighted to welcome Chiamaka. She’s a commanding, talented goalkeeper who can bring consistency and confidence to our defensive unit,” he said. “Her experience at the highest level, including Champions League and international tournaments, will be invaluable as we continue building towards next season.”

Nnadozie herself spoke of her excitement:

The move comes at a crucial time for Brighton, who endured defensive struggles in the 2024–25 Women’s Super League campaign. While the Seagulls finished a respectable fifth in the table, just five points ahead of ninth-place West Ham, their defence leaked 41 goals across 22 matches. Only three teams—Aston Villa, Tottenham, and relegated Crystal Palace—conceded more.

Throughout the season, current goalkeepers Sophie Baggaley and Melina Loeck split duties evenly, each making 14 appearances across competitions. However, Vidosic is now banking on Nnadozie’s international pedigree—she has earned 55 senior caps since debuting in 2018 and played in the 2023 World Cup—to provide reliability and leadership in goal.

Before her time in France, Nnadozie played for Rivers Angels in her home country, winning multiple Nigerian Cup titles. Her journey from domestic success to European recognition now continues in the WSL, where she is expected to play a key role in Brighton’s ambitions for the 2025–26 campaign.
