Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update about Rennes’ deal to buy Kyogo Furuhashi.

67 Hail Hail discussed this morning how the French Ligue 1 club were hoping to seal a deal to buy Kyogo from Celtic this week in a deal worth about £10m.

Rumours about Furuhashi’s Celtic future have been doing the rounds for a number of weeks now and this afternoon, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on the progress of a proposed deal to sell the striker to Rennes.

Kyogo Furuhashi will leave Celtic for Rennes ‘today’
The transfer guru has shared what Rennes coach, Jorge Sampaoli, has told him about the deal to take Kyogo from Celtic.

Romano said, “Kyogo Furuhashi, is set to join Rennes as Jorge Sampaoli confirms!

“’We are getting it done, it should be sealed today…’, Rennes manager has just confirmed.

“It will be a permanent deal in excess of €10m from Celtic.

Celtic must work hard to find Kyogo Furuhashi’s replacement
Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers now has a job on his hands to find a replacement for the talismanic striker before the transfer window closes on the 3rd of February.

Indeed, an argument could be made that Rodgers has enough at the club to get through the rest of the season without replacing the Celtic striker with the likes of Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah and Johnny Kenny at the club.

However, that would enrage the Celtic support who would not accept selling their best goalscorer and not replacing him with one of similar or better quality, especially with the money earned from the Champions League this season.

Rodgers must splash the cash and get in another forward because losing a player who adds 20+ goals per season will be a huge body blow to Celtic.
