Sunderland Close In on Simon Adingra Deal After Beating Premier League Rivals to Brighton Star
Sunderland are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Brighton & Hove Albion winger Simon Adingra, according to an exclusive from TBR Football.
Manager Régis Le Bris has already overseen a flurry of exciting signings ahead of the club’s Premier League return, including Enzo Le Fée, Reinildo, Habib Diarra, and Noah Sadiki. Despite the high-profile departures of Tommy Watson and Jobe Bellingham, Sunderland appear committed to strengthening their squad, with Adingra now emerging as the next potential addition.
Adingra, who previously drew interest from Arsenal and was once valued at £50 million, is understood to be available for transfer after falling down the pecking order at Brighton.
He featured just 12 times as a starter in the league last season under new manager Fabian Hürzeler.
Since joining Brighton in 2022 from FC Nordsjaelland, Adingra has accumulated 73 appearances, 12 goals, and 5 assists, including a loan spell with Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
Brighton have made it clear the 23-year-old Ivorian winger is free to leave, prompting interest from several clubs including Everton, Leeds United, and Nottingham Forest. However, Sunderland have taken the lead in the race for his signature, with sources suggesting that a deal is nearing completion.
Ironically, Adingra’s potential departure from Brighton has been accelerated by the club’s acquisition of Tommy Watson from Sunderland earlier this summer. As Sunderland also prepare to finalise a deal for Chemsdine Talbi from Club Brugge, their aggressive transfer activity signals strong ambition under Le Bris’ leadership.
