It has been some weekend in Glasgow as Celtic prepare for an almighty Champions League showdown against Bayern Munich.
In the background, those in Celtic colours, including Brendan Rodgers, have been duly entertained by their neighbours, Rangers.
It has been another normal weekend for Philippe Clement after Queen’s Park knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup at Ibrox.
Fast forward to the present, and hours after the humiliation for the Gers, the man in the Rangers dugout is still in charge, as he is set to be rewarded for another trophyless campaign.
Clement took charge of Rangers in 2023 and only has the Scottish League Cup to show for it as Celtic continue to dominate.

When Postecoglou took charge of Celtic, the club had just gone through their worst season in a decade and there was a lot of change in the dressing room.
But the Greek-born Australian, who not many knew about when he first arrived, turned Celtic’s fortunes around pretty quickly and in a style that is still remembered today.
As Boyd was dissecting what’s wrong with Rangers, including this ‘myth’ that they haven’t spent under Clement, he wanted to use Ange’s time at Celtic as an example of how to do things right with a new manager, as he told Sky Sports News (10/02/25 at 13:25 pm).
“Philippe Clement has already been under a lot of pressure,” said Boyd. “Gordon (Duncan) is right when he talks about the long-term project, but you can only go with that if you see improvement and I don’t see it. I don’t see this Rangers team improving.
“The prime example for me is Ange Postecoglou. He came into Celtic and that was a rebuild because Celtic had lost so many players. Inside a few weeks, Ange Postecoglou was able to turn (the club around). You could see it straight away, the style of play, and Celtic fans brought into that. They went with it and we know what happened then.
“There will be Rangers fans saying right now, ‘he had so much money to spend’. It’s a myth that Philippe Clement hasn’t had money to spend. He spent £3.5 million on Bajrami in the summer. It’s a lot of money for Rangers. Rangers spent nearly £12 million in the summer. They are already tied into buying Oscar Cortes in the summer coming up for £3 million. He has hardly played. This is where I am with Philippe Clement, it’s not just on him, the recruitment at Rangers for a period of time now has not been good enough. Nils Koppen is to blame for that.

Celtic host Rangers in the fourth Glasgow derby of the season on March 16 – including the League Cup final – and it’s a chance for Rodgers and Co. to put things right after that Ibrox horror show.
But you just wonder if Clement will still be in charge of that fixture by the time it comes about?!
Boyd certainly wants him gone, but wouldn’t it just be better entertainment for Clement to stay on board, for the trip to Hearts at the weekend, so everyone can enjoy the former Rangers striker having another meltdown live on Sky!?
“You talk about Rangers improving and having this long-term strategy,” added Boyd. “Not the rinse and repeat of managers. You have to do that until you find the right manager.
“You can’t just say, ‘because we sacked the last three managers, we are going to continue with this one until it gets better’. It doesn’t work like that.
“If it is finances, you are going to find a way to find the money for the football club to go forward and relieve Philippe Clement of his duties because it hasn’t been good enough for a period of time now. This ain’t going away.
