It’s all been about Celtic in this season’s Scottish Premiership title ‘race’.
But that does not mean supporters and former Hoops players have to sit silently as things continue to implode across the city in their domestic campaign.
Philippe Clement was sacked by Rangers earlier this week which coincided with Celtic opening up a 16-point lead at the top of the division and an insurmountable gap which has been too much for the Light Blues since as early as January.
Another defeat in front of their dwindling crowd this afternoon at home to Motherwell saw interim coach Barry Ferguson taste his first loss as manager and even VAR couldn’t save them this time.
Fast-forward an hour or two later and Celtic were romping past St Mirren at the SMiSA Stadium in a comfortable 5-2 victory even if the Buddies pushed them for the vast majority of the action.
Goals from Jeff Schlupp, Arne Engels, Yang and Daizen Maeda saw off the hosts and had fans delighted especially with their new South Korean hero.
Chris Sutton trolled Rangers and ‘Bazball’
It was before kick-off, though, that Chris Sutton had his fun as he did what he does best by trolling Rangers for their performance as well as getting in a dig at an old sparring partner in Ferguson as well.
As the Sky Sports commentator looked to advertise to punters to catch champions-elect Celtic in action on their channel in this evening’s 5.30pm kick-off, he could hardly resist a pop.
And he tweeted: “With Bazball not working today Celtic have the chance to go 16 points clear at the top… live coverage now on Sky Sports against St Mirren. Kick off 5.30pm”.
As predicted by the big Englishman, 16 points is indeed now Celtic’s gap at the summit of the league table.
What Brendan Rodgers said about Celtic’s 5-2 St Mirren win
The Hoops are too good at this level and with perfectionist Rodgers at the helm they do not look like slowing down any time soon.
The Celtic gaffer had his say on the game at full-time while speaking on Sky Sports and he insisted the win was one of his favourites during either stint in Glasgow as boss.
He said: “I think it’s one of my favourite wins of the season, just on the back of so many games.
“Third game of the week coming here, difficult pitch against a team that are so well organised and make it really difficult for you, they bring a physicality to the game.
“So to come here and score five goals and make the impact that we did was so pleasing.
