Tottenham fans go wild for wonder-kid ingenious display

Tottenham fans go wild for Micky van de Ven wonder goal

Micky van de Ven has been one of the standout players of the season for Tottenham Hotspur so far and he re-affirmed that with a commanding display, capped off by an incredible moment against Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Spurs were comfortable from start to finish at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, putting the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend firmly behind them with a superb performance.

Brennan Johnson gave Spurs the lead in the first half, latching on to a fine Xavi Simons pass and taking advantage of Dominik Kotarski’s hesitation in the Copenhagen goal to fire into an empty net after taking it round the keeper.

Spurs could and perhaps should have had more in the first half, but had to wait until the second period to finish the job in style.More poor play from Kotarski allowed Randal Kolo Muani to tackle him and the Frenchman did superbly to control a high ball before teeing up Wilson Odobert to double the lead.

Things could have taken a bad turn after that when Johnson was sent off for a studded tackle down the back of the leg following a VAR review.

But if anything, Spurs got better. And Van de Ven capped another fine display with a sensational goal that had social media purring.

Picking up the ball on the edge of his own box, the Dutchman strode forward, showing his pace and power by driving through two players and then evading two tackles on halfway, before striding into the Copenhagen half and firing a fine shot past the keeper.

Joao Palhinha added a fourth as Spurs ran riot and it could have been more with Richarlison hitting the bar twice, once with a header and once from a penalty won by Dane Scarlett.

Van de Ven’s goal was reminiscent of Son Heung-min’s goal for Spurs against Burnley in 2020, a goal for which the former Tottenham star won the Puskas award. And it had the Tottenham fans calling for van de Ven to win the same award this time around.

On social media platform X there was plenty of reaction to the goal.

@iluvkulusevski tweeted: “Van de Ven is genuinely one of the most incredible players to ever play for this club.” @TosinTheCreato said: “That van de ven goal btw, incredible.”

Another user – @JoePrriv simply tweeted Micky Van De Ven with the video of Rio Ferdinand repeating “Ballon d’Or” over and over again.

@AnasFTL tweeted: “I was there when Micky van de Ven scored the best individual goal of all time.”
