A busy summer of transfer business is likely to unfold at Molineux, with Wolves already being linked to several players in the market.

With Matheus Cunha set to join Manchester United, a replacement for the Brazilian will be the top priority, and Wolves want to sign two number 10s to minimise the damage of losing their prized asset.

Wolves have been linked to Harvey Elliott, someone who doesn’t possess the scoring power but does boast the creativity to replace Cunha.

Liverpool are demanding £40 million for Elliott, a price tag that many felt was far too high for the Englishman, although he isn’t the only player Vitor Pereira has his eyes on.

Perhaps surprisingly, the Portuguese manager could sign a defensive midfielder to rival Andre in midfield, with reports emerging from Italy.

Wolves want to sign £17m-rated Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup
Andre is one of the Premier League’s best defensive midfielders, seeing his stock and value rise since moving to England.

There is no chance anyone can dislodge the Brazilian from his starting role at the base of Pereira’s midfield, though there are several players who could challenge him.

According to Football Transfers, Wolves and divisional rivals West Ham are plotting a move for Genoa defensive midfielder Morten Frendrup.

The 24-year-old, who joined Genoa from Brondby for just £3.7 million in 2021, is also attracting attention from closer to home, with Fiorentina and AC Milan interested.

Frendrup has developed into one of the best ball-winning midfielders in Italy over the past few years, amassing 124 appearances for his side, while his contract doesn’t expire until 2028.

Encouragingly for Wolves, it has been reported that the Danish international could be available for just £17m this summer, and judging by his incredible metrics, that would be a steal.

Why Frendrup has been compared to N’Golo Kante
Two of the league’s best ball-winners currently play for Wolves, as the aggression and tackling of Andre and Joao Gomes continue to flourish.

But the statistics indicate that Frendrup isn’t far behind the duo with his work off the ball, as he’s made the most tackles of any player in Serie A this term.

It’s no surprise that well-known talent scout Jacek Kulig has compared the Genoa star to former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante due to his ability to intercept ‘almost everything’ along with his speed and agility.

Morten Frendrup reminds me of N’Golo Kanté. Big comparison, I know, but they share some of the same traits,” Kulig wrote in 2021.

“They are both not the biggest and most intimidating midfielders, but they are both fast, great at reading the game, and they intercept almost everything.

“Both players are also good dribblers of the ball, and Kanté has evolved into a well-rounded midfielder with offensive abilities, which also could become the case with Morten Frendrup.”

The above assessment on Frendrup is encouraging for Wolves, who could land an excellent rival to Andre by sealing his signature.
