Celtic should be all over a deal for Roony Bardghji
Football Manager fans will be aware of Roony Bardghji, who is one of Sweden’s best young prospects.
Bardghji, 19, has been at Copenhagen since 2022 and has gone from strength to strength, scoring 15 goals in 84 games at senior level.
A serious injury left the wide man on the sidelines, and he returned to action almost a year later after suffering a cruciate ligament tear in April 2024.
Copenhagen were left shocked though after the youngster told them that he wouldn’t be renewing his contract, which means he could leave the club for nothing in January 2026.
Clubs will be allowed to talk to Bardghji from 1 July about a pre-contract and will have several clubs on red alert, but Celtic should be all over this beforehand.
Not only could the Hoops snap him up for a minimal fee, they’d also be ahead of the pack and land themselves a highly-rated player.
Why can’t Celtic dream big with ambitious signings?
Bardghji is an ambitious target and one that would be a significant coup if he did end up in Glasgow. But why can’t Celtic dream of these targets?
You only have to look at the likes of Henrik Larsson and in more recent times, Kasper Schmeichel, coming to the club to show that the Hoops are an attractive side to join.
Add in the factor of European football and the opportunity to play on Europe’s big stage, it’s hard to turn down.
The volume of games would also allow Bardghji to get as much game time as the likes of Nicolas Kuhn, as well as fill in as Jota continues his recovery from injury.
It’s bold, it’s ambitious, but the Sweden U21 star is the exact sort of player to take the Hoops to the next level.
