Celtic are set to secure Fulham hit kid Callum Osmand – but the Hoops have bowed OUT of a bidding war for Brondby ace Mathias Kvistgaarden.
Wales youth prospect Osmand is due to check in on a cross-border compensation deal after agreeing a Parkhead contract.
The 19-year-old striker has been a star turn for Fulham’s under 21s in Premier League 2 last term – blasting 10 goals in 17 games.
Boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his frontline but Record Sport understands Celtic have dropped interest in long-term target Kvistgaarden.
The Danish hitman was on the radar last summer when Parkhead chiefs explored the prospect of an £8m move before Adam Idah secured his permanent switch from Norwich City.
Kvistgaarden was also linked with Celts in January but it is understood the Hoops had cooled on the move and switched attention to other targets amid reservations about the player’s fit.
The 22-year-old is set to leave Brondby in the coming weeks and is being trailed by West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt – with Lazio also now entering the race.
The Danes are looking to bank more than £12m for the striker – who was called up for the senior national side last week but has now joined up with the youth set up ahead of the Under 21 Euros.
Celtic will add keeper Ross Doohan and Kieran Tierney is due to check in for preseason after agreeing pre-contract following his stint at Arsenal.
Osmand will also join the group – and could be given the chance to stake a first team claim.
The highly-rated teenager has been a bit part of Fulham’s youth set up and has regularly been involved around the first team.
The Craven Cottage side slapped down a new contract offer but Osmand has opted to head north after being sold on a crack at Scotland by Celts.
Fulham boss Mario Silva admitted he had high hopes for the youngster having tipped the attacker for the top.
Silva said: “He is much more mobile (than a lot of strikers).
“He needs more senior football in his legs to see how he can adapt, perform. He’s got the profile that I like. When he has a chance, he can punish the opposition.
“I can see the talent, in a position that is very difficult to play in the Premier League. Probably if you play another striker by his side, you will take the best from him. Let’s hope we can help him to be ready for the Premier League.
