Fer Lopez stands out for his significantly higher defensive work rate compared to Matheus Cunha.
While Cunha carried much of the creative burden for Wolves last season—delivering consistent contributions in attack—his quality in that regard is unquestionable. However, his attitude and disciplinary issues occasionally let him down.
In contrast, Lopez has consistently shown strong commitment, particularly in his defensive duties. When Concept Scouting evaluated Cunha midway through last season, his defensive work rate ranked in just the 58th percentile—one of his weakest areas. If Lopez brings the same level of effort to Molineux as he’s shown so far, his dedication could quickly win over the Wolves supporters.
So, how does Lopez fare in more fundamental stats?
At the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign, he was featuring for Celta Vigo B in Spain’s third division. After registering four goals and two assists in 17 matches and impressing with his performances, he earned promotion to the senior team.
Lopez also shone in the Copa del Rey, netting twice in three appearances and receiving an average SofaScore rating of 7.50.
Though still a developing talent, the midfielder clearly has potential. Most crucially, as noted, his work ethic and attitude appear to be top-tier—qualities that will resonate with Wolves fans if he completes a move to the Premier League. While the jump to La Liga proved challenging—just two goals and no assists in 17 games—his efforts helped Celta Vigo finish seventh and secure a Europa League spot.
