Brighton Tracking €20m-Rated Defensive Gem as Trabzonspor Line Up Tuanzebe Replacement
Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly set their sights on Arseniy Batagov, a rising Ukrainian defender currently shining in Turkey with Trabzonspor.
According to a report from Turkish outlet *Sporx*, the 22-year-old centre-back has caught the attention of the Premier League side after a strong debut season in the Süper Lig. Batagov made 18 league appearances and found the net once, earning praise for his composure and defensive maturity beyond his years.
Brighton are believed to be keeping close tabs on his progress, with a view to reinforcing their backline this summer. Although Trabzonspor would prefer to retain the young talent—who is under contract until 2029—they are reportedly open to offers around €20 million.
In anticipation of a potential exit, Trabzonspor have already started preparing for life without Batagov. The club has initiated talks with Ipswich Town’s Axel Tuanzebe, who is out of contract next month.
While Ipswich hold an option to extend Tuanzebe’s deal and have made a fresh offer, Trabzonspor are pushing to land the former Manchester United man on a free transfer.
With Brighton’s reputation for nurturing young talent and turning prospects into Premier League stars, Batagov could be the next emerging name to make the leap—if the Seagulls are willing to meet the Turkish club’s valuation.
