Rangers are incensed after the Scottish FA handed them a £3,000 fine following John “Bomber” Brown’s emotional outburst during commentary on RTV in the club’s match against Hibernian in May. The fine stems from Brown’s live, unscripted claim that a refereeing call was “corrupt,” a breach of Disciplinary Rule 38 according to the SFA.

However, Rangers and their supporters argue that the punishment is grossly unfair and inconsistent. They point to similar or worse remarks made by figures at other clubs which went unpunished, suggesting the governing body is applying its disciplinary code unevenly and without transparency.

Heart and Hand podcast host David Edgar led the backlash, calling the decision “absolutely disgraceful” in a post on X and urging the club to ensure Brown features on commentary for the opening match of next season in defiance.

The club is now seeking a formal explanation from SFA leadership, insisting that impromptu, emotionally charged comments made during live broadcasts—especially ones not representing official club policy—should not lead to sanctions.

Rangers maintain their response was prompt and responsible, distancing the club from the remark.
