One player who seemed destined to leave, Cyriel Dessers, is now facing uncertainty. The striker was in talks to join AEK Athens, but negotiations have reportedly stalled. Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos revealed on 18 June that the transfer has hit a snag, with AEK reluctant to meet Rangers’ £3.8 million valuation for the 30-year-old forward.

Meanwhile, Martin may be privately fuming with the Scottish FA following concerning news about John Souttar. The centre-back, who recently underwent surgery, is now doubtful for the club’s Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos. Reports suggest the defender postponed the procedure to represent Scotland during the international break a decision that may now cost Rangers dearly as the new season looms.

Amid the turbulence, midfielder Nico Raskin has dropped what appears to be a subtle farewell message. The Belgian commented emotionally on Instagram after his former Standard Liège coach Ricardo Carvalho confirmed his departure. Raskin, who’s been linked with a summer move away from Ibrox, wrote: “The real boss,” followed by a heart emoji  fuelling speculation over his future.

On the incoming front, Rangers may be closing in on defensive reinforcements. Talks are reportedly ongoing with Leicester City over veteran defender Conor Coady. Injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar has reassured fans that Coady is unlikely to face any medical setbacks, noting that despite limited appearances last season, injuries were not a concern.
