Wolves Land Spanish Starlet Fer Lopez in £19m Deal as Vitor Pereira Begins Summer Rebuild
Wolverhampton Wanderers have kicked off their summer transfer window with the acquisition of highly-rated forward Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo in a deal worth £19 million.
The 21-year-old Spaniard becomes the first signing under new head coach Vitor Pereira, marking a significant step in the club’s off-season recruitment plans. Lopez has signed a five-year deal with the Midlands outfit and arrives with a growing reputation following his breakout campaign in Spain.
A product of Celta Vigo’s youth system, which he joined in 2013, Lopez progressed through the ranks to their reserve and B teams before breaking into the senior squad last season. His first-team debut came in December’s Copa del Rey fixture, and he went on to make 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals. His performances helped Celta achieve an impressive seventh-place finish in La Liga.
Expressing his excitement at the move, Lopez said: “Playing in the Premier League is a dream and a huge step for my career. Vitor Pereira told me he believed I could be a strong addition to his team, and when a club like Wolves comes calling, the decision becomes easy. The team improved a lot after Vitor arrived, and I believe he’s a top coach. I can’t wait to start this new chapter with him.”
