Matija Frigan has admitted that a move to Rangers would align well with his playing style, as the highly-rated Croatian striker considers his next career step. The 22-year-old, who currently plies his trade with Westerlo in Belgium, is on the radar of the Ibrox side—though they may face stiff competition from German outfit Hamburg.
Frigan, back in his hometown of Rijeka during the off-season, addressed speculation linking him with a transfer to Scotland. While he acknowledged interest from several clubs, including Rangers, he stressed that no decision has been made and that discussions are ongoing behind the scenes.
“Rangers? That league fits my profile. I think I’d thrive in that kind of football environment,” Frigan said. “It’s encouraging to hear about clubs being interested, but nothing is final yet. My agent is handling everything and we’ll assess all the options carefully.”
Reflecting on his season in Belgium, Frigan expressed appreciation for his current situation but didn’t rule out a change. “I’m happy in Belgium, but a new challenge could be beneficial,” he noted. “There’s no rush—what matters is finding the best fit.”
Frigan also highlighted his physical and mental development since moving to the Belgian league, praising its emphasis on conditioning. “I’ve become a much stronger player—physically and mentally. Belgian football is very focused on physical preparation, which has really helped me evolve.”
As transfer speculation intensifies, Frigan remains calm and open-minded, suggesting that his next destination will depend on what’s best for his career trajectory.
