Nectar Triantis Set for Sunderland Exit as Hibs Close In on Permanent Deal for Impressive Midfield Star
Sunderland look set for a busy summer in the transfer market with a flurry of activity expected both in terms of incomings and outgoings. Following Jobe Bellingham’s high-profile £25 million switch to Borussia Dortmund, another midfielder appears destined to move on.
Nectar Triantis, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Hibernian last season—scoring three goals and providing six assists in 36 outings—is now in advanced discussions to make his stay in Edinburgh permanent.
According to The Northern Echo (via FootballFanCast), negotiations between Sunderland and Hibs are progressing well. Hibs head coach David Gray recently spoke positively about the 22-year-old Australian’s development and the club’s intent to bring him back full-time.
“He had a fantastic season and was key to our success,” said Gray. “Talks are ongoing and positive. We want to get business done early, and he’s certainly a player we rate highly.”
Despite being linked with other clubs across both Scotland and England, Hibs are considered strong favourites to secure Triantis, who has spent the past two campaigns on loan in the Scottish capital. A deal could be concluded in the coming weeks, though Sunderland are expected to receive a much smaller fee compared to Bellingham’s sale.
