Rangers Seal €1.5m Exit Deal Without Manager’s Nod as Max Aarons Arrival Nears in Ibrox Summer Shake-Up

Glasgow Rangers and new Ibrox stakeholders, 49ers Enterprises, have struck an agreement to sell defender Robin Propper — notably without the sign-off of newly appointed boss Russell Martin.

While Martin and the 49ers continue reshaping the squad ahead of a busy campaign that includes Champions League qualifiers and the Scottish Premiership opener against Motherwell, the manager revealed he is eager to bring in “a few” fresh faces in the coming weeks. One of those is right-back Max Aarons, who has already undergone a medical at Ibrox ahead of a loan move from Bournemouth. His arrival would mark the second addition of the summer following Lyall Cameron’s signing.

Despite progress in arrivals, movement out of Ibrox has taken a controversial turn. According to Sport Witness, Rangers have reached a preliminary deal to offload Propper to Dutch side FC Twente for €1.5 million (£1.27m). However, the move hasn’t yet been rubber-stamped by Martin, with the report stating that a meeting between the player and the new boss is still pending and will determine whether the transfer proceeds.

FC Twente manager Joseph Oosting is optimistic, having confirmed direct communication with Propper and expressing hope that the deal will be finalised soon. “We’d like to have Robin,” he said. “I assume it will work out, but in football, nothing is guaranteed.”

If completed, the sale would represent a minor financial setback for Rangers, who signed Propper for £1.5 million just a year ago. Nevertheless, with Aarons poised to bolster the backline, the summer rebuild at Ibrox is already in full swing — even if not every decision is running through the dugout.
