Rangers suffered a significant setback in April when Dujon Sterling was sidelined with a long-term Achilles injury during a Europa League fixture. The English utility man had to be stretchered off, and post-match, Barry Ferguson confirmed that the defender would be out for an extended period. While he has yet to make a senior appearance, the young defender has been highly praised. Former Everton coach David Unsworth said Samuels-Smith has an “incredible future,” and analyst Kai Watson has noted his “elite” potential. His performances in Premier League 2 have impressed scouts, and he could bring both depth and versatility to Russell Martin’s backline.
