Rangers Eye Smart Goalkeeper Switch as Transfer Could Depend on Medical Green Light – Fitness Verdict In!

Rangers are actively weighing a move for Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, but any potential deal may hinge on one crucial factor  the condition of his ankle.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Hull City before being recalled by Brighton in January, and is now on the radar of several clubs, including Rangers, ahead of a possible summer transfer.

In an exclusive update, injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar told Ibrox News that the Ibrox side may closely assess the ankle injury Rushworth picked up last season before giving the go-ahead.

While the issue doesn’t appear to be high-risk, Dr Brar says the medical team will likely examine how well the injury has healed and whether any lingering damage could affect performance – especially given the demands placed on a goalkeeper’s movement and stability.

Despite already having Jack Butland and Liam Kelly, Rangers are exploring a loan move for Rushworth.

That decision may also be influenced by manager Russell Martin’s tactical preferences.

While Butland has been a rock at the back, Martin’s style of play leans heavily on keepers who can distribute quickly and confidently under pressure. His possession-based system might require a goalkeeper who not only makes saves but also kickstarts attacks with pinpoint accuracy.

That vision could prompt Martin to push for a more progressive, ball-playing goalkeeper  and if Rushworth passes the medical tests, he could be just the man to fit that mould.
