Rangers Set to Fast-Track Conor Coady Move After Propper Exit Frees Up Funds
Rangers appear poised to intensify their pursuit of Leicester City centre-back Conor Coady, with developments behind the scenes suggesting a deal could be accelerated in the days ahead.

His leadership, calm under pressure, and tactical discipline sharpened under elite managers like Nuno Espírito Santo offer a clear upgrade on Propper, whose adaptation to Scottish football was inconsistent at best.
More importantly, Coady fits Russell Martin’s philosophy of possession-based football. His composure on the ball, ability to organise a defence, and strong vocal presence make him a more suitable figure for both domestic and European demands. Where Propper struggled with pace and positioning, Coady excels in awareness and communication attributes that outweigh any concern about his age.
Additionally, Coady’s mentoring influence on younger defenders such as John Souttar could bring long-term benefits. His professionalism and experience with England earning seven caps only strengthen his candidacy as a core figure at Ibrox.
With defensive reinforcements nearly complete, Rangers are expected to redirect any remaining budget towards bolstering their attacking options, especially in wide and central forward positions to address last season’s inconsistent goal return.
A move for Coady would not only be financially sensible but could also serve as a cornerstone of Rangers’ push for domestic glory and European resilience.
