Burnley are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who is now being considered surplus to requirements at Molineux. Despite Wolves shelling out around £10 million to prise him away from Crystal Palace just last summer, the 32-year-old has featured only 10 times for the West Midlands side far from the anticipated challenge to José Sá for the starting spot.
Now, with Wolves open to letting him leave either on a loan or a permanent deal worth £8 million a transfer tussle is brewing. Burnley, looking to replace James Trafford, who is expected to return to Manchester City, and Sunderland, keen to bolster competition for Anthony Patterson under new manager Régis Le Bris, are both interested in snapping him up.

In other Wolves news, the club is intensifying its interest in Amine Adli, with Bayer Leverkusen slapping a €30 million (£26m) valuation on the Moroccan international. Though Leverkusen aren’t under pressure to sell Adli has three years remaining on his deal they are open to negotiating if a suitable offer is made. Wolves, aiming to bolster their attacking depth and creativity, may look to haggle on the asking price as they assess their summer priorities.
Brighton Ready to Offload Sarmiento Permanently
Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion are planning to offload Jeremy Sarmiento before the transfer window closes. The Ecuadorian winger, who joined the club in 2021, has not nailed down a first-team place and has spent most of his professional minutes in the Championship, with 75 appearances and 11 goal contributions across loan spells most recently with Burnley, helping them secure Premier League promotion.
New boss Fabian Hürzeler reportedly has no plans to reintegrate Sarmiento into his setup, and The Athletic claims Brighton are hoping to sell the 23-year-old for a profit. The player himself is believed to prefer staying in Europe, despite interest from South America.
