Leeds United Confirm 10th Summer Signing as James Justin Joins from Leicester on Four-Year Deal – Shirt Number Revealed Ahead of Newcastle Clash
Leeds United have officially secured their latest addition before hosting Newcastle United at Elland Road, bringing in James Justin from Leicester City on a four-year contract.
The 27-year-old full-back, capable of playing on either flank, becomes Leeds’ 10th signing of this transfer window.
The deal is structured at an initial £8 million, potentially rising to £10 million with add-ons. Justin has been on Leeds’ radar for weeks, with reports confirming their interest as early as last month.
He arrives with ambitions to become a first-team regular and will provide fierce competition for Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson, a move that also facilitated Isaac Schmidt’s switch to Werder Bremen.
This signing pushes Leeds’ total summer expenditure beyond the £100 million mark. Justin will wear the number 24 shirt, a change from his previous senior numbers – two, three, and 36 – at Luton, Leicester, and England.
The number had been vacant since Georginio Rutter’s departure to Brighton.
Manager Daniel Farke praised Justin as a “proven Premier League player and England international” who offers versatility, attacking contribution, and strong defensive qualities. He described the defender as “a top-class character at the perfect age” who will raise the squad’s overall quality.
Justin himself expressed his admiration for Leeds fans, calling them the best in the world, and is determined to make an immediate impact.
Meanwhile, Jeff Stelling has welcomed the signing but urged the club to strengthen attacking options further.
Standing at 6’0″, Justin adds to the growing physical presence in Leeds’ squad, though he is among the shorter signings in an increasingly tall lineup – a clear indicator of the club’s recruitment strategy this summer.
