Speaking on CBS Sports, the legendary Arsenal striker argued that despite possessing a squad brimming with talent, Daniel Farke’s tactical approach is stifling their potential and contributing to a worrying dip in form.

​”I look at this Leeds team, and I see individual quality,” Henry began, his brow furrowed as replays of Brighton’s goals flashed across the screen. “You have players like Rutter, Summerville, Okafor – fantastic individual talents who can hurt teams. But yesterday, against Brighton, they looked lost. And for me, that points to a deeper issue than just a bad day at the office.”​”Players Not Playing to Their Strengths”​Henry was particularly critical of how Leeds’ attacking assets were being deployed. “It’s almost as if the players aren’t playing to their strengths,” he observed. “When you have the pace of Summerville, the trickery of Okafor, you expect them to be isolated on the wings, driving at defenders. But too often, they were congested, making runs that weren’t being picked out, or just not seeing enough of the ball in dangerous areas.

“​He continued, “Rutter, who can be so dynamic, looked frustrated. He drops deep, he tries to link play, but there was no coherent plan for the final third. They were relying on individual moments of brilliance, which, against a well-drilled side like Brighton, is simply not enough.”​

Midfield “Lack of Direction”​

The French icon also turned his attention to Leeds’ midfield, which he felt lacked clarity and purpose. “The midfield battle was completely lost, as Jamie [Carragher] rightly pointed out,” Henry acknowledged. “But beyond the effort, it was the lack of direction. What was the plan? Were they supposed to press high? Sit deep? It looked like a mix-and-match approach that left them exposed.”​

Henry emphasized the importance of a clear tactical identity. “You can have all the good players in the world, but if they don’t know their roles, if they don’t understand how to play together as a unit, then talent can be wasted. It creates confusion, hesitation, and that’s exactly what we saw from Leeds yesterday.”​

“Farke Needs to Find the Blueprint”

​Concluding his analysis, Henry placed the onus squarely on manager Daniel Farke. “Farke has done well to get them to the Premier League, but this is a different beast,” he stated. “The honeymoon period is over. He needs to find the blueprint. He needs to figure out how to unlock the potential in these players, because right now, they’re playing with the handbrake on.”​

“Brighton were excellent, no doubt,” Henry conceded, “but Leeds’ performance felt less about Brighton’s brilliance and more about Leeds’ own shortcomings, particularly in how they were set up. If they want to stay in this league, they need to address these tactical questions very quickly.”​
