Scott McTominay Tipped For Transfer Hours After Taking Scotland To World Cup

The former Manchester United midfielder has been tipped to make a huge move.

Scotland star Scott McTominay has been tipped with a massive transfer after leading his country to their first World Cup since 1998.

On Tuesday night, Scotland defied the odds and secured automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup with a dramatic win over Denmark in Glasgow’s Hampden Park.

Just three minutes into the match, former Manchester United midfielder McTominay put the hosts into the lead with a incredible bicycle kick that some have suggested could go down as one of the greatest goals in Scotland history. Although the Scots failed to hold on to their lead, leading to a scoreline of 2-2 as the game reached the 90th minute, spectacular goals from Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean secured the vital three points that Scotland needed to book their place in the World Cup next summer.

And now, just hours after helping his country to a historic win, McTominay may be considering making a huge transfer as a former Premier League legend has tipped him to return to England.

McTominay’s bicycle kick put Scotland ahead against Denmark.

After playing 255 games for his boyhood club, McTominay left Manchester United in August 2024 to join Serie A giants Napoli for a reported fee in excess of £25million.

McTominay has since shone with his new club, leading Antonio Conte’s side to the Serie A last season, leading to him winning the league’s MVP award.

Despite this, Manchester United Dwight Yorke has suggested that the Scotsman would jump at the chance to make a shock return to Old Trafford if United were able to accept that they made a mistake in letting him go.

“You know Man United would have to pay some serious money to go and get McTominay back,” Yorke told Snabbare, via the Express.

“It would be difficult to admit they made a mistake, but having said that, he would relish the fact he’s now being backed by the club if they did go back in for him.”

However, Yorke admitted that the move might be one that would never work practically as the role that McTominay has thrived playing at Napoli is far from what Ruben Amorim needs at United right now.

“He wouldn’t answer the problem of not having a number six though.” Yorke claimed.”

They’d probably get him playing even further up the park which would only make things more confusing. That’s why he wouldn’t come back.

“In hindsight, like with all these things, he could have been in a top position at United one day but it’s never that easy.”
