With Daniel Farke’s new system requiring two strikers, signing another forward would seemingly be at the top of the 49ers’ agenda in the upcoming transfer window, especially when considering both Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury records.
Whilst Noah Okafor performed well up top against Brentford, Leeds cannot afford to consistently start the 25-year-old there, when it is evident his best position is out wide.One of the players the Whites reportedly hold an interest in signing, however, will excite supporters, with him being compared to some of the finest strikers in European football.
Leeds interested in securing loan deal for Santiago Gimenez Gimenez is not the only attacker United have been linked to as of late, with Sevilla winger Ruben Vargas being another name linked with a move to Leeds in January.
However, signing a new striker is surely a higher priority, with Farke evidently not trusting Joel Piroe enough to hand the Dutchman regular game time in the Premier League.Gimenez, 24, would provide the depth up front that Leeds so desperately need, with Football Insider reporting on 17 December that Leeds are exploring a deal to bring the Mexican to Elland Road.
AC Milan are said to want anywhere in the region of £25-30million for their striker, meaning Leeds are more likely to launch a bid to bring Gimenez in on loan if they do choose to act upon their interest.

Data suggests Santiago Gimenez is similar to Erling Haaland Despite Gimenez failing to find the back of the net in his nine appearances in Serie A so far this season, one of the players the Mexican is said to be similar to is Manchester City’s Haaland, according to FBRef.
Gimenez averages 3.04 shots per game, whilst Haaland averages slightly more at 3.74 Both strikers mainly lurk in the penalty area to sniff out chances, with Gimenez’s average shot coming from 11.8 yards out, whilst Haaland’s attempts typically come from 12.1 yards out Gimenez actually outperforms Haaland when it comes to shot-creating actions per 90, with the AC Milan forward averaging 2.32, whilst Haaland averages 1.44 Haaland is not the only top-quality striker that FBRef compares to Gimenez, with Liverpool’s Alexander Isak being another notable name mentioned.
When analysing some of his data, signing Gimenez in January seems to be a no-brainer, with Leeds supporters now eagerly waiting in anticipation to see if the 49ers can get this ambitious deal over the line in January.
