Out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott could be set for a shock January transfer after his loan spell at Aston Villa failed to take off. The 22-year-old, who is on a short-term deal at Villa Park, was expected to complete a permanent move upon reaching 10 appearances, but he has been frozen out by Unai Emery and now looks unlikely to feature again.
With Elliott also out of Reds manager Arne Slot’s plans, no recall clause was included in his deal. Having made just two appearances for Liverpool and five for Villa, Elliott cannot play for another club in European competitions this season. However, he could still attract interest from clubs outside of the continent.

Harvey Elliott Subject of MLS Interest According to the report, it is Charlotte FC who have snapped up the discovery rights for the England U21 international, offering Elliott a chance to get back on the pitch rather than twiddling his thumbs on the sidelines for the rest of the season. Coach Dean Smith, the former Aston Villa manager, and Charlotte general manager Zoran Krneta have strong UK connections, which is believed to have put them ahead of the pack.
They are aware that Elliott would rather be plying his trade in the Premier League, but with the World Cup coming to the US this summer, they hope the prospect of playing there week in, week out will tempt him. His arrival would also create plenty of buzz, keeping him very much in the spotlight despite being across the Atlantic.
