Rangers ace has ‘no intention’ of Ibrox departure amid transfer interest from Champions League clubs and MLS

The sought after winger has been subject to interest from clubs from Spain, Belgium and the USA.

An Ibrox summer signing has claimed he’ll be staying put in January despite links from several clubs around the globe.

Danny Rohl made his first signing as Rangers boss in the form of Sturm Graz midfielder, Tochi Chukwuani, who joined the club on a three and half year deal for around £4.3m. The Rangers boss is also closing in on the signing of 22-year old Westerlo left back Tuur Rommens as well as Wolfsburg winger Andreas Skov Olsen on a loan deal.

Amid all the potential new arrivals, the Rangers boss will have to offload a few bodies to balance out the squad. Light Blues winger, Djeidi Gassama has been the latest Ibrox star linked with a move away from Govan, however now reportedly, the Frenchman plans on staying.

Gassama has ‘no intention’ of Ibrox exit

Since signing from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, the 22-year old appeared to be one of the only new additions to hit the ground running in a Rangers jersey. His form has seen him linked with Club Brugge, Villareal as well as several MLS sides, however according to The Rangers Review, he isn’t going anywhere.

They say: “The Rangers Review understands that clubs from across Europe – including Villarreal and Club Brugge – are monitoring Gassama this month. The winger also has interest from Major League Soccer. But it is understood that the 22-year-old has no intention of departing Ibrox in the coming weeks. His focus is on helping Rohl, who he worked with at Sheffield Wednesday last term, deliver the title in the coming months.”

Gassama has registered six goals and three assists for Rangers already this season and he been a mainstay in the starting XI. Given his previous links to Rohl, the pair appear to have a positive relationship which they’ve carried over from their days at Hillsborough.

Transfer chaos presides in Rangers’ wide areas

After signing Gassama on the wing as well as Tottenham loanee, Mikey Moore and former Go Ahead Eagles man, Oliver Antman, Rangers have been well stocked on the flanks this season. It has also been the breakout year for academy product Findlay Curtis.

Nedim Bajrami had been left out of the European squad but recently came back into the fold before suffering a muscle injury last month, but is set to return in the coming weeks. Elsewhere Rabbi Matondo was subbed on against Aberdeen for his first appearance in royal blue in over a year.

While Curtis looks set for a loan move to Kilmarnock, the flanks are perhaps an area of the pitch where Rangers are over-subscribed, especially if Skov Olsen was to make his loan switch. Given his impressive record for the Germans, the Dane would more than likely slot straight into the starting XI. With his constant threat of cutting in from the right hand side onto his left foot, he has already been compared to last season’s Wolfsburg loanee, Vaclav Cerny, who was involved in 28 goals for the Gers.
