NafisaRangers are looking at a potential move to sign Motherwell midfielder Elliot Watt, with a deal being described as ‘one to watch’ by journalist Andy Devlin.
The Gers recently completed their third signing of the January transfer window, bringing in Andreas Skov Olsen on loan from Wolfsburg. Tochi Chukwuani also arrived through the door to bolster their options in the middle of the park, while left-back Tuur Rommens also signed on the dotted line earlier in the winter window.
Further reinforcements could come to Ibrox before the deadline, with Rangers enduring a difficult start to the season. The Glasgow giants have seen a resurgence under Danny Rohl, giving the club some confidence to back the former Sheffield Wednesday manager in the transfer market.
Danny Rohl Wants Elliot Watt at Rangers
Speaking on the Go Ballistic podcast YouTube channel, Devlin has confirmed that Motherwell midfielder Watt is a player that Rangers are looking at. Manager Rohl is an admirer of the 25-year-old, and a potential move has been described as ‘one to watch’.
“Elliot Watt is a player Rangers are looking at. Whether he makes the move in the summer, I think that is one to watch. Rohl is an admirer of Watt, so when you have provincial teams doing well, the manager Jens Berthel Askou is going to attract attention, and it’s the same with strikers.”
Watt, described as ‘the best midfielder in the league’ this season by scout and analyst Kai Watson, was recently named Scottish Premiership player of the month for December. Watt has featured 20 times in the Scottish Premiership for Motherwell this season, scoring four goals while providing two assists.
Rangers Could Make Late Title Surge
After a dismal start to the 2025/2026 campaign, Rangers have been playing catch-up over the last few months. The appointment of Rohl has worked out well, replacing Russell Martin, and the Gers are now on an impressive run of form, winning their last five league matches.
Heading into the weekend’s fixtures, Rangers are currently six points behind leaders Hearts, who they still have to play before the end of the season.
If Rangers are planning to complete a few more additions before the end of the window, giving Rohl more tools to work with, then there is no reason they can’t make a late push to lift the Scottish Premiership title, especially given the inconsistencies of their Glasgow rivals Celtic.
