Earlier this week Sport Witness covered reports that Beşiktaş are showing last-minute interest in Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor.
The Super Lig side want to sign a centre forward before the transfer deadline following the departure of Tammy Abaraham.
This week Abraham re-signed for Aston Villa after his loan spell with them during the 2018/19 season. Villa defender Yasin Özcan headed the opposite way, just months after arriving in the UK.
Fotospor report Beşiktaş have accelerated their efforts to sign the Sunderland player. The Istanbul giants initiated transfer talks a couple of days ago.
There was no indication whether Sunderland were prepared to let the Frenchman leave before the deadline or what Beşiktaş were prepared to offer.
Sunderland want €25m+ offers
The Premier League side have given an answer to Beşiktaş over the forward’s valuation. According to the Turkish media outlet, Sunderland want offers above €25m.
Subsequently, the Black Eagles have distanced themselves from Isidor after being informed of Sunderland’s demands. At this stage the chance of an agreement between the two clubs is ‘close to zero’.
Beşiktaş will now look at alternative forwards due to the North East club’s ‘stubbornness’ over the 25-year-old. They have until February 6th to bring somebody in, when the Super Lig window closes.
Sunderland allowing such a transfer at this stage of the window was unlikely. Since coming up to the Premier League, they’ve been in impressive form and find themselves in the mix for a European spot.
Isidor signed for Sunderland on a permanent deal during the last January transfer window from FC Zenit Saint Petersburg. He’d initially had a season long loan spell at the Stadium of Light from the Russian club.
This season he’s made 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals. Isidor is contracted to Sunderland until June 2028.
