Rangers target Cameron Archer
Cameron Archer looks set to become the transfer story of the day at Rangers.
Rangers are ready to sign Archer on loan, but the deal is currently rated as 50/50 with plenty of movement expected at St Mary’s.
Adam Armstrong is set to join Wolves on deadline day, which could complicate another striker exit from the Championship side.
Archer does want to make the move to Ibrox, with most of the details already in place to make it happen.
Cameron Archer details revealed at Rangers
So far, it looks likely to be a straight loan should the striker move to Rangers.
The Daily Echo has reported that Southampton would like an obligation to buy included for Archer, who is not fancied by Tonda Eckert.
It is said that anything could happen with the £15million striker, in a deal that is likely to change consistently throughout the day.
Rangers are likely to pay a loan fee and cover the entirety of his wages should it happen, it is reported.
Cameron Archer by the numbersRangers need a striker before the deadline; that much is clear.
Youssef Chermiti once again failed against Hibernian on Sunday, with Bojan Miovski also struggling to recreate any sort of form he once had in Scotland.
With Danilo also set to leave before the deadline, a space is there to be taken.
Ryan Naderi is set to join Rangers in the summer, but more is needed in the final months of this season if they want to win the Scottish Premiership.
Comparing Naderi and Archer, the German has been involved in seven more goals this season from fewer matches.
Of course, the Hansa Rostock man is their main star, with Archer on the periphery at St Mary’s, so the latter is likely desperate for a chance at more football.
Either way, something needs to be done in the coming hours, with a breakthrough needed at Southampton for Rangers to get a deal over the line.It could just save their season.
