In the 13th minute of Leeds United’s Premier League match against Manchester City on Saturday evening, sections of the Elland Road home support appeared to boo a break taken in order for players who were participating in Ramadan to break their fast. The incident has been widely criticised, with one X user commenting: “Disgusting, embarrassing from Leeds fans.”
Another added: “Booing is nasty work!! LUFC fans, do better!” as a third wrote: “Imagine booing for allowing players to break their fast after sunset. Poor form from the Leeds fans.” Elsewhere, another concluded: “The boos from Leeds fans there as players break their fast is nothing short of disgraceful.”
