MustyLeeds United forced to issue urgent statement over Premier league decision in regards to daniel farke incident
28 February 2026 Leeds United acknowledges the events following the conclusion of our Premier League match against Manchester City at Elland Road this evening. Manager Daniel Farke was shown a red card by referee Peter Bankes after the final whistle. We respect the Premier League’s clarification that this was issued for entering the field of play and confronting the match official.
The club understands that Daniel’s reaction stemmed from deep frustration over several on-field decisions during the game, particularly the management of added time despite multiple stoppages and cautions in the closing stages. Our players and staff felt these elements contributed to an unbalanced end to what was otherwise a highly competitive and committed performance against one of the division’s strongest sides. We are proud of the effort, spirit, and quality shown by the team throughout the 90 minutes, and we believe the result did not fully reflect the balance of play.
Daniel’s passion for Leeds United and his desire to protect the interests of the club and its supporters are well known, though we recognise that emotions must be managed within the framework of the game’s regulations. The club will review the incident internally and cooperate fully with any subsequent processes from the Football Association or Premier League.
